DAVID FISCHER, tenor

David Fischer will be a permanent member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein solo ensemble (Düsseldorf/Duisburg) from the 2019/20 season on.

Since the 2017/18 season he has been singing in the solo ensemble of Bonn Opera, and also performs on a regular basis at Leipzig Opera.

Already in his first season on the Bonn Opera stage, he covered the leading role of John Whitcroft at the world premiere of the opera Geisterritter by James Reynolds – a role which will also take him to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the summer of 2019.

Other roles in Bonn included Rev. Horace Adams (Peter Grimes), Remendado (Carmen), Pang (Turandot), Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), Don Basilio and Don Curzio (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte).

As a concert singer, David Fischer sang in Stravinsky's ballet Pulcinella in 2018 with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin conducted by Sylvain Cambreling at the Berlin Philharmonie, and sang Bach's St John Passion with the NDR Chorus and the NDR Radio Philharmonic in Hannover under Andrew Manze.

In March 2019 he went on an Asian tour with René Jacobs and the Freiburger Barockorchester as Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), and went on to perform Mendelssohn's Walpurgisnacht in April in the Stuttgart Liederhalle and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with Frieder Bernius, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and the Stuttgart Chamber Choir. In December, Handel's Messiah will follow in the Cologne Philharmonie.

With his Lied partner Pauliina Tukiainen, David Fischer has given artsong recitals at the Swiss Festival Classique des Haudères, in Geneva, and at the Schumannfest in Bonn.

David Fischer was able to crown the year of 2016 by winning the renowned Geneva Competition.

David Fischer gave his début in 2015 at Baden-Baden Theatre as Tremolini (Offenbach, La Princesse de Trébizonde) as part of the 48th Berlin Philharmonic Easter Festival. The next year he travelled to Daegu (Korea) with the Bonn Opera ensemble as Jaquino (Fidelio).

He completed his singing studies in Freiburg with Reginaldo Pinheiro, and also took master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender.

David Fischer started learning music by taking violin lessons at the age of three; when he was 12 years old, he won the German federal competition Jugend musiziert in the solo violin category.
