Konstantin Krimmel was born in Ulm and has been studying since 2014 toward a degree in voice in the class of Teru Yoshihara at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart. He received his first musical training in classes with soprano Christiane Rockenbach and as a member of the Boys’ Choir of the St. George Parish Church in his home town.

Krimmel won First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 1st International Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition; he is also a laureate of the 2018 Rising Stars Grand Prix International Music Competition in Berlin (in the Artsong Duo category with pianist Doriana Tchakarova), First Prize, Audience Prize and Special Prize for the Best Aria Interpretation at the 1st International Haydn Competition for Classical Song and Aria, and First Prize and Audience Prize at the auditions for the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation Advancement Scholarship.

Krimmel has also received a Young Ulm Art Advancement Prize in the Classical Music category, a German Scholarship for the 2016/2017 academic year, and scholarships from the Fritz Wunderlich Music Festival and the Ulm/Neu-Ulm Richard Wagner Society (which he represented at the concert held by international scholarship holders in Bayreuth). Krimmel has received further valuable artistic counsel as an active participant in masterclasses held by Brigitte Fassbaender, Magreet Honig, Noelle Turner, and Thomas Heyer.

In the summer of 2018, Krimmel sang his début in the role of Leporello (Don Giovanni) under the baton of Robin Engelen in Severodonetsk (Ukraine). In the 2016/2017 season he not only covered the role of Zoroastro in Handel’s Orlando under the baton of Michael Form at Heilbronn Municipal Theatre, but also sang one of the solo roles in the German première of Gion Antoni Derungs’s opera Benjamin at the Junge Oper in Stuttgart (stage direction: Neco Celik).

Apart from opera, Krimmel also specializes in concert repertoire and artsong. With pianist Doriana Tchakarova he has given a great number of lied recitals, thereby proving the duo’s great interest in blending the expression of words with music. In the 2018/19 season he will sing concert and lied recital débuts with renowned vocal accompanist Helmut Deutsch at the Deutsche Oper and the Konzerthaus in the German capital, as well as at the MuTh (Concert Hall of the Vienna Boys’ Choir) in Vienna.

Concert appearances in Germany and abroad have led Konstantin Krimmel to perform Brahms’s Requiem in Tallinn, Helsinki and Saint Petersburg; in his repertoire he also covers both of the J. S. Bach Passions, the Bach Magnificat and the Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s oratorio The Seasons, Mendelssohn’s Paulus, as well as a number of further important works of vocal repertoire with orchestra.

In the 2018/2019 season, Krimmel will also cover the role of Nardo in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera at Heilbronn Municipal Theatre.

Konstantin Krimmel records exclusively for Outhere Music France.
